Video Of The Day: Paper Mario Bros. Stop Motion Animation

Author: furious  //  Category: Games, Videos

Furious writes…

“The movie is comprised of over 300 frames, and the only materials that I used were paper, colored pencils, glue, and cardboard. Using graph paper I recreated the pixel data 1:1 with the different colored pencils and then cut out each “sprite” after gluing it to cardboard for stability. The coloring and cutting out took a long time, but shooting the frames and putting together the video probably in total took about 36 hours. ” By YouTube user smartkid82504.

Plants vs. Zombies: The Review

Author: fab  //  Category: Games

Fab writes…

Plants vs. Zombies is Pop Cap’s crazy but definitely FUN take on a tower defense game. The whole objective of the game is to protect your house from a zombie invasion and from getting your brains feasted on by putting up an army of plants.

Plants vs Zombies

Each plant and zombie has its own strengths and weaknesses and it’s up to you to decide which set of plants you choose each game to keep your brains safely inside your head. Of course, there’s also Crazy Dave to guide you along the whole ordeal, that’s if you can understand all his crazy talk. ;)

The makers of PVZ have come up with a masterpiece. Don’t let the very “cartoony” graphics deceive you because everything about this game is so well-thought out that you will not get tired of pitting your plants against those dreadful zombies! Oh and another thing you would like to play over and over again is this very cute music video starring, of course, the plants and the zombies. Enjoy! :D

Guitar Hero World Tour

This is an awesome ad promoting the World Tour of Guitar Hero. It features four sports superstars, namely Kobe Bryant, Tony Hawk, Alex Rodriguez, and Michael Phelps.

The promo features the rich-as-shit foursome playing music in pink button-ups and their underwear (except for vocalist Kobe, who was too shy and rocked some b-ball shorts instead). :D

Google Maps meets ‘Grand Theft Auto’

Two Web sites are pushing what can be done with interactive interfaces to Google Maps and Google Earth.

The first, taking advantage of Google Maps’ new ability to work with Flash applications, lets you drive a car, bus, or truck around Google Maps.

Another novelty is a flight simulator for the browser plug-in version of Google Earth announced at Google I/O a week and a half ago. Again, the software is crude by gaming standards, but it does illustrate what can be done these days inside a browser.

It’s really amazing what programmers can come up with these days, and how many different technologies are available on the Web. :D

Miss Management

Miss Management Logo

I owe my good friend Rich for introducing me to this game. I just started playing it a couple of days ago and it has already got me hooked.

The Game. Get ready to manage a team of zany animated coworkers as you step into the shoes of Denise, a young and beleaguered first-time office manager. You’ll have to juggle incoming work tasks, keep everyone from getting stressed out, and help the coworkers achieve their goals, from flirting at the water cooler to getting more work done than anyone else! Office politics was never as hilarious as this!

miss management cover

Game Features:

  • Play through thirty episodes of office-comedy hijinx, with different goals to achieve in every episode.
  • Eleven different employees, each with their own personality quirks, skills, likes and dislikes, and hilarious storyline.
  • Watch office politics, rivalries and romance unfold across more than forty animated sitcom-style scenes starring the whole cast.
  • Juggle four colors of work tasks, a dozen types of power-ups, and nine kinds of office furniture, to get the job done without total burnout!

The game starts off as a desktop interface, as if you were sitting right in front of your computer at the office. It then continues on to play like an interactive sitcom, with a small cast of characters that appears before each level (for that season) and sets the stage for the challenges that Denise has to face for that level.

I loved this game from the get go because it’s not “linear” as most multi-tasking games tend to be. Unlike it’s predecessors like Diner Dash, Jane’s Hotel, etc., this game does not get boring after some time. The other games doesn’t only get boring after each level of doing the same tasks over and over, they get harder too. In Miss Management, yes the tasks do get harder to juggle after each level, but the storyline gets more interesting. You will get excited as more characters come into play because it’s your job to make them all get along.

I must say the cast is one wacky bunch. There’s Mahavir, the office playboy whose only goal in the office is to snag all the ladies, and get his “beauty rest” on his favorite couch. Tara, the introvert artist who just wants to be left alone doodling on the whiteboard. Winston, the company’s IT expert who loves playing video games in between working and dodging Pearl. Pearl, the self-proclaimed pillar of wisdom in the office who seems to do more bossing around than our beloved manager, Denise. These are the initial set of characters that you will be dealing with. Wait until you meet the rest of the cast.

As the manager, you are not only responsible to distribute the work, you’re also supposed to know when one of your employees needs to take a well deserved break. But it’s not as easy as it sounds because everyone has their own opinion of what proper and improper work etiquette is (especially “boss” Pearl). Stuff which others find stress-relieving actually annoys other members of your staff. So this leaves no room for favoritism, you should quickly learn how to treat all of them equally, or else it will be game over for you.

game box

It will be worth your money to buy the full version of this game especially those of you who are fans of time management/multi tasking games like me. Miss Management will not only keep you occupied, it will entertain you as well. It’s an excellent mix of action, comedy, romance, and drama brought to you by age-old office politics. Happy gaming!
